Sustainably farmed: Small Red Abalone (Haliotis rufescens) are grown for food in the USA. The empty shells are then shaped and polished.

These delicate Red Abalone seashells shimmer with the gorgeous iridescent colours of mother-of-pearl. A slightly "dished" interior shows off their beautiful iridescent nacre, with rosy or green highlights. The natural surface on the reverse has been carefully cleaned and polished to show the striated red and pale green formations typical of Abalone shells.

The curved interior rim follows the natural shape of the shell, making these pocket-sized sea treasures ideal for smudging, as well as displaying trinkets and jewellery.

They hold the energy of the ocean and bring a strong calming and healing energy, allowing you to remain connected to the sea - even when you are landlocked. Abalone combines ideas of serenity and strength in equal measure, as you will discover in welcoming it into your life. 

Abalone are the preferred shells for smudging (it is important to hold your smudge stick over a fireproof container at all times to prevent burning or glowing herbs from falling on the floor as you smudge).
